Photo Shoot Information
Firstly, thank you so much for replying to my casting call and wanting to get involved. I don’t know about you but I find putting myself out there totally anxiety inducing so if you’re feeling the same then just know that I am friendly, positive and encouraging and I’m probably feeling just as terrified. At the end of the day it’s all about us having fun doing what we love, so there will never be any bad vibes from me.
So, here’s some things to know before the shoot in preparation:
Theme and Setting
The theme of the shoot is Urban Grunge - street style with an alternative twist -however this is flexible to include Goth, Emo, Punk - anything alternative. We’ll be doing a photo walk around the location we’ve discussed to build up a portfolio of shots. The story line is ‘hanging out’ so poses will be about being relaxed, chilled and generally vibing with what’s around us. Please check out the gallery at the bottom for some inspo pics. It’ll likely last between 1-2 hours.
We will have already decided on a place to go but if you decide last minute there’s somewhere nearby you want to try instead I’m totally flexible. This experience is for me to get better at finding shots wherever we are and making anywhere look awesome. I’ll be using natural, available light so as most of your shoots are in June/July the weather should be good (fingers crossed). I may also have either a reflector or my flashgun with me for fill light.
The Goal
Ultimately I want to have a portfolio of shots for me to approach small alternative fashion brands so I can shoot for them, and hopefully you’ll have images from the shoot for you to do the same if that’s how you want to use them. During the shoot we’ll collaborate to put a focus on whichever brands you want to highlight, finding creative ways to display the items.
The Look
For makeup you’re the boss. Whatever looks good on you is fine, but I have included some images in the gallery about what would look good to me in my portfolio, but I appreciate not everyone rocks the same style so I’m flexible. Same with hair too, up-do’s are good because they can be easily taken down to change up the look.
For styling I’d really like you to pick pieces that you have from your favourite brands so we can tag them and maybe get some interest after the shoot. Layering will work really well for this as there may not be places for outfit changes so things like jackets, shirts, hats and sunglasses can really change up a look whilst keeping the set cohesive. Same for jewellery, boots and bags, lets show off some of those awesome pieces you have.
I will put a disclaimer here that I will not tag brands like Shein or Temu due to personal reasons, but there is no criticism from me if this is where you buy clothes from as that’s your choice.
After the Shoot
I anticipate the turnaround on the images to be 2-3 weeks due to the amount of shoots I have booked and the limited time I have for editing, but I will aim to get them to you as quickly as possible. I’ll be creating a blog post around each shoot with a full gallery so you can see how the story comes together and be able to share with people. The post will also include any contact details for you that you want to provide so people can get in touch with you. The images will go up on my Instagram page and stories, and select images will be on my Purple Port profile with tags (if you’re on there). Once edited, all finished images will be sent to you via your preferred method. The RAW files won’t be available, and I would prefer that images are not edited without discussing it with me first, as they portray my brand. Similarly, if there is an image I post that you feel doesn’t work for your brand I’m happy to change it or take it down. At the end of the day the shoot is about making connections with likeminded creatives and supporting each other so I’m not going to be a dick. I don’t mind images being entered for publication either, but please let me know if you do this in case it affects it being submitted somewhere else.
If you have any questions about anything please get in touch.
Inspo
Here is a little gallery of inspiration for when you’re deciding what to bring. Please note that none of these are my images and copyright stays with the original creator, they’re simply images I found on Pinterest.
